CSE offers postgraduate programs which create new opportunities for postgraduate research in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Health Informatics and Computer Engineering disciplines and contribute to the professionals required at various levels of local and international organizations.
The main objective of the Masters of Science in Computer Science program is to provide a technically oriented and scientific postgraduate education to individuals needing to acquire new technical and scientific skills in the Computer Science discipline. The minimum qualification for admission into is Lower Second class Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related disciplines from a recognized University or Postgraduate Diploma in Computing or related discipline.
The program is 18 months for a Full Time and 24 months for an Evening.
The main objective of this program is to address the gap, both theoretical and practical, between the areas of integrated health and modern information technologies in order to address local and international health needs through improved access to health information.
The minimum admission qualification is BSc. Degree in Informatics or related fields or BSc. Degree in Health Sciences or related qualifications with an overall grade average of B or higher. In addition, a minimum of one-year work experience is required. It is an evening program and the duration is 24 months.
The main objective of this program is to provide a technical oriented and scientific postgraduate education to individuals in the information system management discipline. Generally, the program provides theoretical and practical knowledge with the broad perspective needed to implement and manage secure information systems.
(a) Direct Entry Qualification
An undergraduate degree in Information Systems Management or a related field from a recognized institution with at least a lower second class award (GPA 2.7 out of 5).
(b) Equivalent Qualification
Advanced Diploma in the relevant and respective field with at least lower second class award OR an undergraduate degree with at least a pass in related field PLUS a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant and respective field from recognized institution certified by TCU with at least an upper second class award (GPA of at least 3.5 out of 5).
The main objective of the MSc. in computer Science and IT Engineering program is to provide graduates with a comprehensive coverage of the skills required by an engineer working in instrumentation, electronic systems, and hardware and software aspects of computer engineering.
(a) Direct Entry Qualification
UQF level 8 with the background in IT related undergraduate programs or electrical engineering related programs which include IT courses with at least a second class degree with minimum GPA of 2.7 out of 5 from a respective institution recognized by TCU or equivalent.
(b) Equivalent Entry Qualification
A Postgraduate Diploma in IT related programs or Electrical Engineering related programs which include IT courses from a respected institution recognized by TCU or equivalent with at least an upper second class B+ award with minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 5. Candidate with equivalent qualifications must also possess at least ordinary secondary school certificates with principal passes in Physics and Mathematics.
This program is offered in the evening and duration is 24 months.
The main objective of the Ph.D. in Computer Science is to build research capacity in Computer Science discipline.
A holder of a relevant master degree of the University of Dar es Salaam or from any other recognized and accredited University.
It is a newly introduced program. Its main objective is to build research capacity which embeds innovation and team building with an emphasis in multidisciplinary requirements involving electrical, electronics, and ICT needed to address challenges in the area of the electrical power smart grid.
The student should satisfy the general University minimum requirements with the following additional requirements:
Masters degree in IT related programs or in Electrical engineering related programs which include IT courses with at least an upper second class degree with minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 5 from respected institution recognized by TCU or equivalent.
The program is offered as regular and the duration is 4 years.
