CSE offers several postgraduate programs which create new opportunities for postgraduate research in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Health Informatics, Data Science, and Computer Engineering disciplines; and produce professionals required at various levels of local and international organizations.  

MSc. in CS

This is a 1.5 or 2-year postgraduate programme leading to the award of MSc. in Computer Science. It aims at producing competent graduates  in technical Computer Science and scientific research. The first academic year has 2 semesters, each of 15 instruction weeks and 2 examinations weeks. The second academic year is for the dissertation work. However, students may opt to do this programme by thesis, in which case no coursework is required of them. Programme periods are 18 months for regular students, and 24 months for evening students.

Apart from the ability to to analyze, design, implement, manage and maintain computer systems, the programme equips graduates with necessary skills to conduct scientific research in Computer Science and the related fields. It offers advanced training in the following areas: programming and software engineering, data communication and networking, management of information systems, mobile and cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cyber security.

MSc. ISM

This is a  2-year postgraduate programme leading to the award of MSc. Information Systems Management. It provides students with ability  to identify how information systems can be applied to solve existing and new problems, and the ability to leverage technology to realize strategic opportunities and improve or reengineer organizational processes.  Through this programme, students are equipped with technical and scientific skills required to excel in the discipline of Information Systems management. The programme takes 2 years, and the coursework spans both of the two semesters of the first year as well as the first semester of the second year. The dissertation project starts in the first semester of the second year and runs throughout the second year.

The programme consists of courses that cover the following areas: systems management, systems modeling, systems development and implementation, systems security, ICT based entrepreneurship, and research methodology.

MSc. in Computer and IT Systems Engineering

This is a 1.5 or 2-year postgraduate programme leading to the award of MSc. in Computer and IT Systems Engineering. It equips graduates with comprehensive skills required by engineers working in instrumentation, electronic systems, and hardware and software aspects of computer engineering. The programme is appropriate for engineers who wish to update their knowledge in various aspects of Computer Engineering and IT Systems, and to acquire necessary skills required to conduct scientific research. The programme takes 24 months, if taken in evening mode; and 18 months, if taken in regular mode. For the regular mode, the first year is for coursework, and the first six months of the second year are devoted to a dissertation project. For the evening mode, the first year is for coursework, and the second year is for a dissertation project.

It  is organized around a number of core and elective courses in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Mathematics, with the aim of preparing graduates to pursue careers in academia, research, relevant technical and innovation environment, and  technology entrepreneurship.

MSc. in Data Science

This is a 2-year postgraduate programme leading to the award of MSc. in Data Science. It aims at producing graduates with skills in advanced data analytics, visualization, and other areas of data science sub-disciplines which are in high demand in industry. The first academic year has 2 semesters, each of 15 instruction weeks and 2 examinations weeks. The second academic year is for the dissertation work.

The programme produces graduates with skills in data curation, management and analysis of multiple sources of data, and data visualization--to infer important insights from data. Besides, the programme equips graduates with the following skills: development, testing and maintenance of data visualization platforms; development of strategic data-driven models to inform decision making, policy planning and management of data-driven platforms in organizations; and use of machine learning and tools and statistical techniques.

MSc. Health Informatics

MSc. in Health Informatics aims at bridging the theoretical and practical gap between the areas of integrated health and modern information technologies, in order to address local and international health needs through improved access to health information.
