A milestone reached in style!!.

Our Department has set a new record in producing new PhD graduates in computer science-related fields. For the first time since the establishment of CSE department, three PhD students registered in our department have successfully defended their PhD theses in ONE week. These are:

  1. Dr Rukia Julius Mwifunyi (academic staff at the University of Dodoma). Her PhD research focused on Distributed Algorithm for Enhanced Fault Localisation and Service Restoration to Improve Reliability in Electrical Secondary Distribution Network.

  2. Dr Yona Andegelile (academic staff at CoICT, UDSM). His PhD research focused on Multilayer Resilient Communication Network to facilitate automatic fault Detection on Secondary Distribution Power Grid.

  3. Dr John Sausi (ICT Manager from the Ministry of Finance and Planning). His PhD research focused on evaluating electronic payment systems inf reference to the Tanzania government revenue collection systems.

Additionally, two academic staff in the department who were in study leave have successfully defended their PhD theses at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden. The two are;

  1. Dr Aron W. Kondoro (academic staff at CoICT, UDSM). His PhD focused on the use of the latest smart grid and Internet of Things technologies to develop more secure, efficient, reliable, and autonomous solar-driven microgrids for off-grid rural communities.

  2. Dr Diana Rwegasira (academic staff at CoICT, UDSM). Her PhD research focused on the enhancement of agent-based controlling and monitoring on solar-driven DC microgrid systems.

As the CSE Department, we celebrate the achievement of each graduate and wish them the best in their next phase of academic life and professional careers. Also, we appreciate the funding support given to these students without which this achievement could not possible, we acknowledge the commitment of their supervisors, and we cherish the contribution of everyone at CoICT in supporting our students doing their research projects. This is huge and we, as a CSE team, should all feel proud of ourselves as we commit to doing more for science, the University, the country, and humanity.
