MSc in Computer IT Systems Engineering (MSc CITSE)

Objectives and contents

This is a two-year masters programme focusing on providing graduates with a wide range of the skills required by an engineer working in instrumentation, electronic systems, hardware and software aspects of computer engineering. Specifically, the programme aims:

  1. To provide students with an enhanced theoretical background and applied knowledge that they need to practice as Computer and IT Systems engineers who can lead in research and development.
  2. To enable students, acquire the ability to innovate, develop, direct, coordinate and technically manage projects in the fields of information technology and computer system engineering.
  3. Equip students with skills to be able to start their own businesses through the incubation process.
  4. To provide a gateway to doctoral studies in Computer and IT system engineering.

The programme is intended to prepare graduates upon completion, to be able to:

  1. Use acquired knowledge to investigate new and emerging technologies, tools and applications in computer and information technology fields.
  2. Use concepts from a range of areas including technical management skills and apply them effectively in engineering projects.
  3. Develop and apply mathematical and computer-based models and other engineering techniques by solving problems in computer and information technology taking into account a range of commercial and industrial constraints.
  4. Generate innovative designs for products, systems, components and processes to fulfil new and emerging needs in the field of computer engineering and information technology.
  5. Make audio/visual/written presentations to convey a body of technical information in a coordinated and comprehensive manner and demonstrate qualities of a professional team member specifically in the areas of interpersonal skills, scheduling, working within deadlines and budget restrictions.

Graduates of MSc in Computer IT Systems Engineering can work in a range of professional and high-skilled technical positions such as:

  1. Computer and Software Engineers
  2. Network Engineering
  3. Innovators and Designers of digital devices and embedded systems
  4. Managers of ICT systems
  5. Researchers in computing and IT engineering fields
