Dr James Chambua holds a PhD in Computer Science and Technology specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms from the Beijing Institute of Technology – Beijing, China. He is currently a Lecturer and Postgraduate Studies Coordinator at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University of Dar-es-Salaam. His research interests include improving understanding, design and performance of ML algorithms, recommender systems, information retrieval, big data analytics and visualizations, application of AI techniques, statistics and e-learning systems.
Dr Chambua has conducted consultancies in programming and software development with several organizations including Intrahealth International. His research works have been published in international journals including Artificial Intelligence Review, Expert Systems with Applications, Neurocomputing and Weather. Currently, he is serving as a Co-Guest Editor for the International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks (SAGE Publications) and also serving as a Program Committee member for the International Conference for Data Mining (ICDM 2021) specifically on its Second International Workshop on Advanced Neural Algorithms and Theories for Recommender Systems (ICDM NeuRec Workshop 2021).
