About me
Hussein Lema is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). He joined the department in 2009 as a Tutorial Assistant, was promoted to Assistant Lecturer in 2016, and attained the position of Lecturer in 2026.
His academic and professional work focuses on software development and network security, which form the core of his research, teaching, and consultancy activities. In the field of network security, his research specifically addresses the prevention, detection, and response to IP, MAC address, and Caller ID spoofing attacks. Additionally, he has a strong interest in the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and interoperability of information systems, particularly within the context of developing countries.
Hussein Lema is actively engaged in academic collaboration and welcomes interaction with students and researchers interested in software development, network security, and information systems.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science from the University of Dar es Salaam, obtained in 2007 and 2016 respectively. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from 2021 to 2025 at the same institution.
